Lucy Sambrook

Hey! If we’ve not met yet, I’m Lucy, the founder of PR for the People.

I’ve been working in PR and journalism for over 12 years, you can read more about my career journey timeline below. After a 10 year stint in London, I’m currently based back in my lovely hometown, Brighton.

It’s my mission to make PR more human, accessible and inclusive. I share lots of tips and tricks on Instagram @prforthepeople so please do connect with me there.

‘We recognised the need for something new in the PR industry: A supportive community and inclusive environment that will help people from all walks of life connect, thrive and be heard.’

My Story So Far...

Launched 'Let's Get Visible PR coaching programme

The evolution of our DIY PR membership is a 'done with you' PR programme allowing our founder Lucy to work closely with a select number of businesses a month on bespoke PR solutions that are tailored to the individual needs and goals of each company

Feb 2021
Founded PR for the People

PR for the People started as a DIY PR membership, and grew to include a PR agency arm in 2022.

Within the first month of launching we gained 200 members

We were featured in Forbes and nominated for business awards for making the PR industry more inclusive

Made redundant

I was made redundant at the beginning of the pandemic.

Like many others, this forced me to think outside the box about working for myself, so I started to freelance in PR while building plans for a new business - the PR for the People membership and agency.

Worked as head of PR for a leading London hospitality group

For four very fun years I worked in-house as head of PR for Mothership Group in London. I looked after the PR for Queen of Hoxton, The Book Club, and Colours in London plus Patterns in Brighton.

Landed a job at a national newspaper

I worked on the busy lifestyle desk of the Metro newspaper in London for just over two years. I had to write between 6-8 stories per day and covered everything from travel and wellness trends to culture and fashion stories. I love writing and have always continued to freelance as a journalist alongside working in PR.

Worked in a London PR agency

My very first 'proper' job was in a busy London PR agency managing the accounts for restaurants, spas luxury hotels and other lifestyle clients. I loved it!

Graduated with a 1st in journalism

I've always been an absolute nerd when it comes to reading, writing and journalism. Give me a book or magazine over a tv show any day!
